  1. Turn on the glucometer and insert strip in it.
  2. Clean your finger tip
  3. Prick with the lancet
  4. Put the drop of blood on the test strip
  5. Wait and read the glucose level on the meter screen

Venous  blood glucose: When you go to a laboratory and give blood sample from a vein to detect blood glucose. It will take 20-30 min to get the results. But results are more accurate than glucometer. What are the goals? The target blood glucose range is: Preprandial( before meals) = 70-130mg/dl Post prandial ( 2 hours after meals)   < 180 mg/dl Urine glucose: It is easier to perform but It is not as accurate as blood glucose level. Rely mostly on blood glucose checks.
