- Clean your finger tip
- Prick with the lancet
- Put the drop of blood on the test strip
- Wait and read the glucose level on the meter screen
Venous blood glucose: When you go to a laboratory and give blood sample from a vein to detect blood glucose. It will take 20-30 min to get the results. But results are more accurate than glucometer. What are the goals? The target blood glucose range is: Preprandial( before meals) = 70-130mg/dl Post prandial ( 2 hours after meals) < 180 mg/dl Urine glucose: It is easier to perform but It is not as accurate as blood glucose level. Rely mostly on blood glucose checks.
