No symptoms: In most of cases diabetes causes no symptoms hence it is not diagnosed on time. Symptoms appear when some of the complications have spread so far that it is too late and irreversible damage has occurred. So it is best to test blood glucose level yearly if you have family history of diabetes, sedentary life style and increased weight.

Type 1 Common symptoms include:

  1. Increased thirst
  2. Increased appetite
  3. Frequent urination
  4. Weight loss despite good appetite
  5. Lethargy, irritability

Type 2 Common symptoms include:

  1. Increased thirst and increased urination
  2. Repeated infections
  3. Cuts, blisters, ulcers that heal slowly
  4. Dimness of vision
  5. Numbness or tingling of hands or feet
